Calla Pieters

Calla Pieters has extensive experience in chemical process design, execution management, process technology development, and managing production facilities. He successfully conducted projects in Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, and the wider APAC region.

His experience is strongly focussed on thermal processing and includes coal/biomass upgrading projects as Engineering Manager for 8 years, followed by 5 years as GM for Licella Technology Development where he drove the technology development of waste plastics and biomass to liquid syncrude, fuel, and distilled chemicals.

Calla Pieters joined the Liberty Energy Capital team as a Technical Manager in 2022. He is a chartered manager with IML and the UK-based CMI and holds an MBA from the University of Newcastle. He holds technical qualifications in chemical engineering, chemistry, and pulp & paper technology. Calla’s previous work experience includes BHP Billiton, SAPPI, and the CSIR (South Africa).
